The link dump that wasn’t
Somehow, I amazingly have the “All Items” section of Reader completely under control. The only things in there before I started reading through the posts that came in overnight were a few posts on infographics and knowledge management (leading to the startling realization that I had no “information literacy” tag in del.icio.us), and I read them while catching up on my Sunday comics.
That said, last night I was working on a project and decided to look through my “Starred” items in Reader. Yikes! Before I started thumbing through them, there were roughly 450 items in there, some dated to Summer 2006. When I finished pulling out all the quote posts and the posts related to my project, I was down to 430.
I’m not entirely sure how I let that get so far out of control, but I’m thinking about spending an hour a week on just those items, sorting them to wherever they need to go, acting on them if they’re tied to necessary actions, and just generally doing what I can to get rid of them.
Just when I thought I had ditched my digital pack-rat tendencies. I guess I just need to go on a massive sweep!
