I’m coaching again
I’m not really sure when it happened, but I’m starting to be the coach again. I’m starting to look for opportunities to connect people to other people, or people to information. I’m probing, asking driving questions to help the confused and lost find their path, or at least find a direction to explore.
I’d forgotten how much I enjoy doing this type of work. It’s a lot of fun to watch someone get where they want to be, and to know they got there greatly on their own with just a little push. I love seeing people be successful and happy, that look of accomplishment that comes when a person can say they got where they are on their own!
It does remind me that I never finished my coaching training, and probably ought to go back to that It’s just one of those skills that’s always handy to have in my back pocket, even though I strongly suspect my coaching style just strongly resembles one of my favortie teaching strategies. (You’d be amazed how useful a series of well-thought out questions can be sometimes!)
